Christmas Lights!

This year our lighting guys didn't show up on the day they were scheduled to come. So Jeff and I got to thinkin, "We can just hang them". Oh and were we right!!! Jeff had some help getting started, some of the 17 yr old guys from the neighborhood showed up and Jeff paid them to help for an afternoon. Then Jeff and I spent a few hours finishing up the job.
Jeff was brave on the ladder. He made me sit below and hold the ladder. I kept think, "Seriously what am I going to do if this ladder starts going anywhere? I couldn't even hold this ladder steady without Jeff on it". Luckily I didn't have to find out what I would do if the ladder started moving. You see Jeff has been going through kinda a clumsy streak. Maybe calling it a steak is not telling the whole truth, a bit of an underestimation of the problem. If you have ever seen Jeff go up stairs you understand. That kid trips every time he goes up our stairs. May I emphasize OUR STAIRS. Foreign stairs, they are a much larger even more complex problem for him. And occasionally he falls when he goes down our stairs too. Watching Jeff fall down the stairs is much more. . .what is the word. . .entertaining? No maybe scary? I guess it depends on the outcome and what he is carrying. For example: Ezra has taken one wild ride down the stairs with dad. Ezra was fine, completely unscathed. I don't even think he was aware something had gone terribly wrong. Jeff on the other had. Not so lucky. That display of falling down the stairs = scary. Anyway back to our lighting: For one whole day on that ladder he didn't trip once, lucky for him, even luckier for me standing at the bottom of the ladder.

Hard at work. Luckily a neighbor drove by, and being so amazed at the fact we were hanging our Christmas lights, she stopped. And even took a picture. I don't know what to think about the fact that us hanging Christmas lights is a picture worthy moment.

And so that night of course there was a snow storm. And we loved it because we got the full Christmas effect. And I had to get a picture of what we had done. So here are Ezra and Jeff enjoying the snow and proudly standing in front of the house.

Maybe that picture doesn't capture the joy they were both experiencing.

Okay maybe Joy and Pride aren't exactly the two feelings there were feeling. Jeff maybe. But I think Ezra was really thinking, "What the heck are my parents doing to me, and what the heck is on my head, and couldn't they at least have put my pants on before taking me out here?" Dang it was cold that night. But Ez and Jeff were good sports about me having to have a picture.

I wish I was there!! You are such a good wife to hold the ladder. Furthermore, I think you are brave to make fun of jeff's clumsiness on stairs... I'm always afraid to laugh so I just pretend like it didn't happen.

You know your life is sittin' pretty when one of your larger problems is hanging your own lights...because your house is huge. Here in V-town all us folks hang our own lights, and have real problem to deal with; like childhood obesity and an educationally under-served community. Just kidding. I love your posts and further more I love the Lees! Sure wish I saw you on a daily basis.

Nice lights. Tim wants to put lights up and I keep putting him off, mainly because I think they'll stay up until July (shhhh, don't tell him I said that).
Good job Jeff for not falling but I was laughing through the whole post. Tim doesn't have a clumsy streak, he is clumsy all the time, just look at the bruises on his legs.
oh and Ez, so stinkin cute in that hat! Good luck keeping it on. The hat is off in two seconds flat with Tyce.
